Greetings.  Please click on the link below to see the complete tour blog from my west coast outing with Echoset. We sure did have fun!  Click here.
Echoset - West Coast Tour, July 2005 (a glimpse from the road)
Brief stop on the side of the road on our way to Taos.  We stayed with a good friend from Austin and left for Dillon, Co early the next morning.
GT and a New Mexico plate.
We checked out the gorge before heading out.  Incredibly beautiful.
The amazing view from our friend's desert house.
The famous parrot Cody was not too enamored of GT; in fact, he tried to peck GT's head off.  Luckily, we were there to break it up. Cody has an awesome vocabulary and likes to dance we discovered.
Our sweet friend Heather at the gorge.
Mike & Rae said there was no way they'd bungee jump from this bridge.  I, on the other (sometimes crazy) hand expressed some interest.  Maybe next time.
Don't look down, GT.  It's a long way to fall for a little ghetto tub. . .
After playing in Dillon, CO at the Snake River Saloon, we headed up to Salt Lake City. We had a great show at Burt's Tiki Lounge and played with a cool band called The Tremula.
We played Boise, ID on Saturday and forgot to take pictures... it was an awesome show and everyone there was very sweet. Sunday morning we hit the road for Seattle. It took a little work but we convinced this cop to pose with GT.
View from the pier in Seattle.  The traffic on the west coast is uh, not so great.
This is one of my favorite shots from the tour. I became obsessed with getting an action shot of the seagulls from the pier.  Beth indulged my 20 minutes of snapping by warning me of passing gulls - "here comes another, Sarah, quick!!"
The girl behind the camera most of the time.  This was about 1 hour before our show at the Central Saloon in Seattle.  It's a cool club, but not so far from the best corner in Seattle to score some crack (or crank if you prefer).
Loyal fan, Shane, with Beth before our show at the Central Saloon.  Great stage and sound.  Check out Paramour. They played after us and kicked some major booty!
The door guys let down some of their guard after our show.  My first time to Seattle and I must admit: I really love this city.  Austin has some competition.
These are flowers in Portland.  We had our best show of the tour at a club called the Tiger Bar.  All of Echoset's loyal friends & fans came out to make it a very special evening.
Jack Daniels throws an interesting challenge into the morning after mix.  Oh me, that one hurt.  Never mind, we're off to San Francisco!
Beth got some cool shots when we were crossing the Bay Bridge into San Francisco. What a truly beautiful city.
We headed straight for the venue, which was called "Cherry." There were 4 bands before us so we did our best to stay out of trouble for those 4.5 preceding hours. With very little effort we discovered another crack corner - this time in San Francisco.
We busted a move to L.A.  That's a long drive and we got to the club with only 30 minutes to spare.  Whew... cutting it very close. Thanks to 50 Cent Haircut for getting us such a cool gig at Molly Malone's.  We had a blast!
We played with our friends Stobo on Venice Beach the next afternoon (Saturday).
Billy and Guido of Stobo pictured here.
The flowers in southern Cal are beautiful.
Rae gets serious about taking in some music.
Michael.  We're going to miss you!  He's leaving for North Carolina in a few weeks... :(
Beth looks on. . .
The day was kind of weird - occasional sunshine with a lot of haze.
Late night grocery run for beer and breakfast taco ingredients.  We Texans can't think of what might be better.
We stayed with a friend whose dog, Bella, nearly took GT's left arm right off.  Another close call.
The beach lured us back one last time before heading back to Austin.
You wouldn't have caught any one of us in the water that day.  It was chilly.  Plenty of braver surfers were among us.
The beach was like quicksand for GT, so he hopped into one of Beth's shoes.
Sadly, it had come time to head back to Austin.
The power generators were everywhere for a few miles as we cruised through the desert.
Wind + white thingies with propellers = electricity for people somewhere.
A beautiful sunset as we drove that evening.
Taken from interstate I-10.  24 hours back to Austin.  And to think, El Paso is still 9 hours from Austin.  Our state is pretty huge, no question.
The temperature had cooled down to 108 degrees (from 122 degrees at 7:30pm that evening).  We're back in Texas now and appreciate you checking out this blog.  Thanks to everybody along the way.  We hope to do it again in October.  Stay tuned... !

Echoset - East Coast Tour, June 2005 (a glimpse from the road)
Quite obviously entering The Heartland of the US (June 8)
Ghetto Tub (GT) & the St. Louis Arch (June 8)
Steve (my younger brother) & GT in Indiana (June 8).  He's currently restoring vintage cub cadet tractors. We played the next night in Richmond, IN at a cool bar called "Walkers."
GT & the G Spot (random stop along the way in the middle of nowhere)
Loading duties (thank goodness for Mike) after our show in Middletown, CT (June 11).  We were well received & made oodles of money for swank hotels, food & gas :)
Rae taking care of business before our show at the Coffee Bean in Burlington, VT (June 12).  It was very similar to Flipnotics in Austin.
In NYC (June 14)! Tom (my older brother) lives there and is pretty good with the camera. Our gig at Rothko was great ... can't wait to return. And it was a pretty cool place to celebrate my b-day the night before.
Abbey Lounge in Boston (June 15). They're more reserved here in the northeast we're noticing. It was our best show musically, we all agree.
Uh-huh.  Yeah, baby.  I got your Schlitz.
More from the Abbey...
Mike keeps it rocking at the Abbey.
We made it to New Haven (June 16) just in time to load in and then all took turns closing our eyes for the camera outside of Cafe 9.  It was a cool little club with a nice bar and cool little stage.
Cafe 9 sign above the bar in New Haven, CT.
Pondering ... & waiting for more Puorro's to arrive. We played with a band from Cleveland called the Dreadful Yawns.
Cafe 9 show.
Luckily nobody attempted to play darts during our show.
Mike and Beth kick it back on her dad's sailboat. It was docked in the Mystic Seaport.  It got a little chilly that evening, but we sure did have a good time.  Nobody got wet - what a miracle.
This photo is slightly altered (otherwise it would just look a little bit darker).  The calm harbor, sailboats, & full moon made for an incredibly beautiful night.
We arrived in D.C. and played our first gig at a very hip indie club called the Velvet Lounge.  I forgot my camera that night so no pics to show :(  An all-girl band called "5'4" played after us.  We heard that they are the shiasta right now in D.C. ?!
There wasn't really a "Krakatoa Lounge" inside of Chief Ike's, but we couldn't resist this sign.
Chief Ike's was a great bar in what we were told is the very super cool  part of D.C.  We all agreed it was among our best shows.  A great band played after us ... then everything stopped while we crowded around the bar to watch the end of the San Antonio vs. Detroit game.  Man, we were MAD they lost that night.  But of course, they came back and won the championship.  Sorry for those of you who though Michigan had a chance.  Ouch.
Check'r out.  Rae Goldring does not fool around when it comes to rocking out on the bass.  Sexy lady, whew...  cool mural, eh?
We arrived at The Brewery in Raleigh-Durham just in time to grab some beer and get to rockin.
Puorro expressing her bad self. I have a feeling we were playing "Back Seat" when this photo was taken.  Oh, the fog in the background?  That would be authentic fog straight from la machina (our first and only encounter w/ la machina on this tour).
The stage & sound at The Brewery were terrific.  Some very talented emo bands played before us... and made us ponder our age ;)
Mike laying it down in Raleigh...
We had a day off so we hung out in Chapel Hill.  It's hard to tell, but that's Aqualung in the background.  We stopped by the 506 for a beer and were lucky enough to catch Aqualung's sound check.  Pretty darn cool.  That night we went to The Cave for indie band night.  Watched the Spurs win and played Funky Monkey until blue in the face.
A professional photographer was in the house that night so this is the only shot we were able to get from our Atlanta  show.  The club was great and we had a nice turn out.
We drove to New Orleans the next day to celebrate Rae's birthday.  This very cute cat was lucky enough to meet GT.
Last picture before we got in the car for the long haul back to Austin.  I think we look a little haggard at this point... ready for some r & r.
GT assumes his place on the dash while we cruise on down the road.  That does it for the East Coast leg.  I hope you've enjoyed this little journal.  Stay tuned as we plan on posting a similar blog throughout the West Coast leg.  Special thanks to AMW for taking many of these photos.  And to the rest of the band for putting up with my constant snapshots and need to find cafes with wi-fi.
